Abdessatar Amamou was born in Tunis, a city he loves, and although he studied both law and history he feels much more like a historian than a legal professional. He regularly leads tours round the old city of Tunis and is also a TV and radio producer. He took his degrees in law at the Faculty of Law and Political Science and in history at the Faculty of Letters at the University of Tunis, followed by a DEA (advanced Master's) in modern history. He has taken various courses at the INP (National Heritage Institute) in Tunisia and a course at museums in Paris. He has contributed on historical and artistic topics to various periodicals including Moltaqa el ajyal, La revue Sadikienne and La gazelle and participated in national and international conferences and meetings. He speaks Arabic, French and Italian.
