About The Tour: The history of Morocco is inextricably linked with that of al-Andalus. The turbulent exchange of cultures, people and commerce brought about the birth of a flourishing art form, the most beautiful examples of which materialised in Morocco. In the enchanted cities of Fez, Tangier, Tétouan and Chefchaouen, the holy city, Andalusian art and architecture reached the peak of their beauty manifested in their most renowned and refined monuments. From the first minaret and minbar (pulpit) built during the period of political antagonism between the Umayyads of al-Andalus, Abbasids, Fatimids and Idrisids, to the Almoravid, Almohad and Marinid sanctuaries, fortresses, madrasas, funduqs (merchants’ hostel) and minarets, a flourishing of artistic heritage was transferred to the subsequent Moroccan dynasties, a legacy which still represents an important part of Moroccan tradition and culture.
